Welcome to Waves

Individual Therapy in Ontario

One-on-one therapy that meets you where you are.

Individual therapy offers a private space to slow down, sort through what feels heavy, and begin making sense of the patterns that keep showing up in your life.

At Waves Psychotherapy, sessions are collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in real life. We may explore your emotions, relationships, nervous system, past experiences, stress responses, and the ways you have learned to cope.

You do not need to have the perfect words before starting. You can begin with what feels stuck, overwhelming, confusing, or ready for change.

Individual therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety or overthinking

  • Burnout or emotional exhaustion
  • Trauma or childhood emotional neglect

  • Grief or major life changes

  • Parenting stress

  • Relationship patterns

  • People-pleasing or perfectionism

  • Low mood or disconnection

  • Difficulty setting boundaries

  • Nervous system overwhelm

  • Identity shifts or self-esteem concerns

  • and lived-experience needs.

How we work together

Therapy is tailored to you.

Depending on your needs, sessions may include trauma-informed talk therapy, somatic and nervous system support, CBT-informed strategies, DBT-informed skills, parts work, narrative reflection, attachment-focused exploration, and practical tools for everyday life.

The goal is not to “fix” you.

The goal is to help you understand yourself with more compassion, respond to life with more steadiness, and feel less alone in what you are carrying.

Online and in-person therapy

Individual therapy is available online across Ontario and in person in Ajax.

Therapy is also available in English and American Sign Language.

Waves Psychotherapy welcomes clients with diverse communication, sensory, accessibility, disability, neurodivergent, and lived-experience needs.

Healing the past so it stops living in your present.

Waves operates on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Huron-Wendat peoples, and the home of the Métis Nation. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We are grateful to live and work on this territory and we honour the resilience and continued presence of Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.
